The Strength in Surrender

There is strength in surrendering to the faith that God’s ways are higher than ours will ever be, and His thoughts for us are greater than all the dreams and aspirations we have for ourselves. There is strength in surrendering to God Who means all things for good; Who knows the night will soon be over and the morning will eventually come; Who causes the sorrow to make way for rejoicing; Who uses even our ruins to transform us into the person He wants us to become.

There is strength that lies in the heart that waits on the timing of the Lord. Amidst the hardest task of waiting and wondering if it will ever happen, trusting that God will bring everything to pass in His perfect time is strength. There is strength in knowing that the questions of “when” will be answered according to His will, and there is strength in accepting whatever the answer may be—whenever the answer may come.

There is strength in kneeling before the Lord in prayer. During the nights you cry your heart out to Him in prayer, during the days you wake up and trust Him to get you through the day, during the times you lay the battle down on His feet, during the moments you lean on Him because everything just feels to be crashing down—there is strength in that. There is strength in weakness, because it is during our weakest point that God’s strength is magnified the most.

There is strength in standing on the promises of God. Whether in the midst of heartbreaks, losses, sicknesses, or most random breakdowns, there is strength in standing on God’s promise that we have a Rock that is higher than us we can always run to. The fire He allows to test us today is the same fire He will use to refine us tomorrow. There is strength in believing that even though life is full of uncertainty, God holds our tomorrows in His hands, and there is nothing He is going to do that will not be for our best and ultimately for His glory.

To the world, surrendering is usually a sign of weakness. Very seldom do they associate surrender with strength. What they do not know is that the greatest of strength actually comes in surrender. For it is only when we come to the end of ourselves that God can reveal His power to us.

There is strength in surrender, only if that surrender is to God.
